•The Snowy Plover Docent Program is holding a volunteer training session this Saturday, June 30 from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Participants will learn how to help protect the endangered bird, which makes its home on the beach. Call 880-1195 for details.

•Volunteers are needed to team with the Alternatives to Violence Project to provide fun, informative workshops for incarcerated criminals in the state prison system. A 10-hour-per-month commitment is required. Call 905-6765.

•The folks from Speaking of Stories need help working the refreshments booth at the upcoming French Festival on July 14 and 15. The festival runs both days from 10:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. and help is needed in two-hour shifts. Proceeds from the booth will benefit Speaking of Stories. Call 966-3875
