Fire Destroys Structures in Goleta

Goleta — A two-alarm fire in the pre-dawn hours of 3/21 destroyed 805 Clothing and Action Sports in Old Town Goleta, located at 335 Rutherford Avenue, and Moore Machining located next door at 5759 Dawson Avenue. Thirty firefighters and eight engine companies fought the blaze, which was visible from throughout the Goleta Valley and included explosions from the machine shop, for a little over 90 minutes before it was contained at 6 a.m., with only minor damage to three other adjoining businesses. The roof over 805 Clothing had already burned through by the time firefighters arrived. The cause and cost of the fire are still being investigated.
