Casa de Mural Gets Stay of Execution

Mental Health Department chief Doug Barton arranged a three-month reprieve for Casa del Mural, the treatment facility that houses 12 severely mentally ill residents. Barton said the eviction notices stating that occupants would be relocated by June 30 will be rescinded. He added that continuing the contract will mean cutting $145,000 from elsewhere in the budget, but will allow for a fuller discussion of the options.
