This Memorial Day, volunteers are being asked to help tidy up the most neglected stretch of sand in the county during the 3rd Annual clean-up of the Ellwood Bluffs Beach. Difficult to get to and littered with old lobster traps, garbage, and debris from local college students, this lonesome beach is in desperate need of a spit shine.
Cleaning supplies and food will be provided to all able-bodied volunteers, courtesy of the event’s sponsors, Live Oak UU Congregation, Venoco, and MarBorg Industries. The clean-up is being held on Saturday, May 26 from 3:30 p.m. to 9:30. True, it’s a lot to ask of people to skip their customary holiday BBQs, but the cause is worthy. After all, it’s a three day weekend and that means there’s time to spare. For more info, call Liz Stull at (805) 636-9227.
