A 19-year-old woman from Santa Monica was arrested for misdemeanor DUI after she failed to negotiate a turn on southbound Highway 101 just north of South Padaro Lane at 12:56 a.m. on Nov. 7. The woman's 2003 SAAB rolled over after she ran off the road, came to rest near the Union Pacific Railroad and then caught on fire. Though she emerged with only minor abrasions, trains were suspended from running through this section of tracks until her burning car could taken away from the tracks.
The accident remains under investigation.
