This Chula Vista native now lives in Isla Vista. But don’t think Independent intern Adrian Casta±eda only lives in places that end with the word “Vista.” This UCSB senior spent a good chunk of 2006 living in Barcelona, where his fluency in Spanish made studying literature a breeze. “I went for the World Cup,” he said of his time abroad. Though he visited Santa Barbara as a youngster, Casta±eda said he’s come to appreciate the city more in recent yearsboth as a place with facilities more hospitable to his longtime skateboarding hobby and as a means of escaping I.V. scumminess. He’s leaning toward journalism for post-college activities. “I feel like I could do something for the people who live here,” he said of a writing career so far in Santa Barbara. Fun fact: Upon being asked what sea animal he’d most like to be, Adrian picked “sea turtle,” for the creature’s juvenile cuteness and longevity
