Colin Marshall

A POLISHED VOICE:

One of our newest arts contributors, Colin Marshall got his start in journalism writing album, film, and book reviews for UCSB’s Daily Nexus. In addition to penning Hot Off the Press, The Indy‘s monthly roundup of new books, Marshall writes book features and reviews. His sharp mind and smooth voicenot to mention his love of old-school R&Bmake him a natural-born radio announcer; you can catch him on Magic 106.3 and KCSB 91.9. Among his intellectual heroes are Tom Stoppard and George Orwell. “My favorite thing about The Independent is how much more polished it is than the average alternative weekly,” Marshall said. “So many others seem to have some tired old axe to grind; it’s refreshing that The Indy doesn’t.” The respect is mutual, Colin.
