Blanchett Gets Top SB Film Festival Honors

Academy Award and Golden Globe Award winner Cate Blanchett has been chosen as the Santa Barbara Film Festival’s 2008 Modern Master Award winner, the highest honor award given at the festival, it was announced Tuesday. Blanchett is the tenth Modern Master on a list that includes Jodie Foster, Sean Penn, George Clooney, and last year’s winner, Will Smith. Blanchett will be honored Jan. 26, 2008. She won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Katharine Hepburn in the 2004 film, The Aviator.
