Santa Barbara police made arrests for burglary, drug use and trespassing over the weekend, according to information released by the department Monday.

Friday

Police responded to a call of a possible burglary of SBC Patient’s Collective, a medical marijuana dispensary at 2915 De la Vina St., from a neighbor who knew the establishment had been burglarized in the past. The neighbor heard banging and rustling at around 11 p.m., and called authorities.

Police arrived to find two teens, a 19-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl, waiting in a vehicle, and as they were speaking with the two, a third tried to “nonchalantly walk up and get in the vehicle,” said police spokesman Lt. Paul McCaffrey in a written statement. The 17-year-old boy was dirty, had fresh, bloody cuts on his hand, and a pair of pruning shears in his pocket, McCaffrey said. Police believe the 17-year-old had cut a large hole in a dirt covered, heavy tarp that covered a patio in the back of the dispensary, dropped down into the patio and unsuccessfully attempted to open the door, which police found to be damaged, but secure. Fresh blood was found on the door. The 17-year-old was arrested and booked into juvenile hall for burglary, while the other two were questioned and released to their parents.

Saturday

At 9:30 p.m., police were called to a possible gang fight in the 1300 block of Salinas Place. They arrived to find several teens jumping over fences and fleeing the area. The juveniles were tracked to a nearby residence. Police were allowed to search the residence when an adult male who lived at the resident arrived and told police no one should be inside. Police found ten juveniles inside, some with gang ties. Most of the juveniles were just warned, but one 17-year-old girl was arrested for allegedly being under the influence of methamphetamine.

Sunday

Owners of Garrett’s Old Fashioned Restaurant, 2001 State St., arrived to work at 6 a.m. to find the back door of the eatery torn off its hinges and a man sleeping inside. When police arrived, they contacted the 45-year-old man, who was sleeping “peacefully,” according to McCaffrey. After investigating, police determined that a customer at the AM-PM Mini Mart across the street had told the store clerk that a man dressed in a white tank top and jeans had challenged him to a fight at around 3 a.m. earlier that day, forcing the customer to stay inside until the suspect, who matched the description of the man found sleeping inside the restaurant, left. The 45-year-old man, according to McCaffrey, told police he began drinking whiskey and beer at 6 p.m. the previous night, and couldn’t remember a lot of the night. The suspect was arrested for suspicion of vandalism and trespassing.
