Finally-needled and threatened by the Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act, and a power-hungry executive branch driven by Bush and guided from behind the scenes by Karl Rove, the local electorate is coming alive. The local Santa Barbara effort to protect and expand our electoral and civil rights can begin with your "yes" vote on Measure A on this year's November ballot. Holding elections on even-numbered years it has a proven record of enabling greater voter turnout and saving money-over one million dollars in ten years. Is there anything else the voters of Santa Barbara can do to open up and democratize our local government? -David Wass

No, seriously, voters need to get behind Measure A because it is going to save taxpayers money while significantly increasing the number of voters weighing in on local elections and ballot initiatives.
