The Friends of the Library’s second annual Scrabble Challenge fundraiser takes place this Friday, September 28, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., at the Santa Barbara Central Library. The entry fee is $20 per individual or parent/child team, and participants can register to play two timed Scrabble rounds, enjoy music and refreshments, and earn prizes from area businesses. The fundraiser serves as a kickoff for the ninth annual Santa Barbara Book and Author Festival-taking place Saturday, September 29-and supports the Santa Barbara Public Library System’s Adult Literacy Program, which provides free, confidential help for 200 adult learners and their families each year. For more information about the Scrabble Tournament, visit sbplibrary.org or call 564-5619.
