Democratic Congressmember and superdelegate Lois Capps remains noncommittal about which Democratic presidential hopeful she’s supporting. Capps’s daughter Laura worked in the White House under Bill Clinton, and both Hillary and Bill Clinton campaigned actively on behalf of Capps and her late husband Walter in their congressional campaigns. However, Capps’s daughter is married to Barack Obama’s campaign spokesperson, Bill Burton.

Representative Lois Capps spoke in support of countywide celebrations of César Chávez Day on 3/31, calling the Chicano leader a “role model.” “I am proud to represent Oxnard, California, one of several places of importance to César Chávez’s life,” Capps said. Chávez lived in Oxnard as a child with his migrant worker parents and later returned there in 1958 to organize one of the first successful United Farm Worker campaigns.
