Steelhead Seen In Mission Creek

According to eyewitness accounts, the annual return of endangered steelhead trout to the seasonal waters of Mission Creek is currently underway. No doubt spurred by recent rains, an approximately 30-inch adult female was seen in a pool near the Ortega Street bridge, happily constructing a redd in a known nesting area. While it is believed the female has since moved on, several smaller fish, most likely males, have also been seen in the area.
