Give a Little


• Learn how to help adults gain confidence in their reading skills by volunteering as an Adult Literacy Tutor. Class begins Tuesday, January 15, noon-4:30 p.m., with the second session on Thursday, January 17, noon-4:30 p.m.; or Wednesday, January 16, from 5:30-8:30 p.m., continuing January 23 and 30. Meet at the S.B. Public Library (40 E. Anapamu St.). Call 564-5619.

• The S.B. Rape Crisis Center (433 E. Canon Perdido St.) is sponsoring a women and teens self-defense class this Saturday, January 12, to teach protective techniques in an empowering, supportive, and fun environment. Cost is $30 a person, but partial scholarships are available. The class is from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the center. Call 963-6832.

• Learn how to protect yourself from a winter flu with the Sansum Flu Clinic this Friday, January 11, from 2-6 p.m. Those ages 12 and older are welcome, and the class costs $10. Call 681-8976 to RSVP. The Sansum Clinic is located at 215 Pesetas Lane.
