    Suicide Barriers Examined for Cold Springs Bridge

    On 1/6, former Director of Suicide Prevention for the New York State Office of Mental Health Gary Spielman weighed in on the debate surrounding the possible construction of suicide barriers on the Cold Spring Canyon arch bridge. Calling Caltrans’s proposed barriers “an inferior solution,” Spielman explained how a human intervention system could better deter jumpers. The next public meeting on the subject of the bridge could come in late spring.
