Blenders in the Grass.

Blended Summer

What is better in the warm summer months than sitting at the beach with a fresh slice of watermelon? Well, not too much, but Blenders in the Grass (12 locations on the Central Coast ranging from Santa Maria to Camarillo) has captured those beloved summer memories and fit them into a 24-ounce blended drink with their latest and greatest special: The Watermelon.

By Jen Villa

This dairy-free smoothie features fresh watermelon, strawberries, and apple juice. Your first sip is interesting-it is fresh, light, sweet, and slightly sour-and tastes almost familiar. On your second taste you realize why the flavor is recognizable: The smoothie tastes just like a watermelon Jolly Rancher. Through a seemingly simple combination of fruits, Blenders has resurrected a favorite cavity-causing candy into a healthy drink to be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner-or any other time of day for that matter
