Proving to be quite versatile, Wolf Parade have returned with a record that seems to be heavily inspired by the late ’80s and early ’90s sounds of the Pixies, The Cars, the Flaming Lips, and the Eels. Whether or not evoking indie greats of times past was intentional, it makes At Mount Zoomer no less inspired. The album is a whimsical collection of nine tracks, complete with beginning, middle, end, and bumps all throughout, which results in a well-executed, thoughtfully inspired, and brief full-length. “Language City,” “Bang Your Drum,” “California Dreamer,” and especially “Fine Young Cannibals” are tracks especially worth mention, and considering there are only nine songs on the album, the odds seem to be in Wolf Parade’s favor.
