Sexual Assault Allegedly Occurs on Highway

Police Investigation Seeks Taxi Driver

Although details are still scant, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff Department’s Criminal Investigative Division is looking into a reported sexual assault which may have occurred a few days ago. The victim, a 20-year-old female, was allegedly sexually assaulted by her cab driver on the way home from downtown Santa Barbara to her Isla Vista residence, said Sheriff’s Public Information Officer Sergeant Alex Tipolt. Apparently, no stops were made during the ride. The assailant, described in the police report as an East Indian male approximately 23 years of age, apparently made his move while on the go, which police believe indicates that the victim was in the front seat of the car.

No further details on the incident was available.
