Saffron
Jen Villa

Saffron Restaurant (113 W. De la Guerra Street, 805-966-3333) recently opened its doors for lunch and dinner to lovers of international cuisine, offering a fusion menu of culinary specialties from around the world. Its location on De La Guerra near the Paseo Nuevo Mall makes it a convenient stop. The eclectic menu provides an indication of which country the dish comes from in a column to the left of the description. Lunch starters from Japan, Thailand, and Spain make ordering for the indecisive a difficult task. French Croque Madames and Spanish Spicy Chicken and Chorizo sandwiches are just two of the possible world stops. Dessert selections will definitely strike a chord for both light and decadent treats. Choose from silky Japanese green tea ice cream and deeply colored Black Forest Cake. There are very few, if any, restaurants that follow a similar model where guests can order both Italian and Chinese inspired meals under one roof. Bringing all of these different themes together is like getting a Food Court’s selection with quality preparation and ingredients. Stop by for happy hour from 5-7 p.m. and sample a pomegranate margarita. A full wine list and low-priced imported beers are also available.
