The vagaries of vintages are supposed to make it impossible, but it seems somehow Foxen Winery makes better wine every year. While connoisseurs with deep pockets rightfully flip for their Sea Smoke Vineyard Pinot (the best wine from the county ever? Discuss …), they also offer wines for those of us not on an expense account. Through June 30, they have an online special (foxenvineyard.com) for free shipping of six bottles or more, and you’ll want six. The two wines in this offer are the 2005 Ernesto Wickenden Old Vines Chenin Blanc and the 2004 Range 30 West. The white is surprisingly dry and totally refreshing, the perfect porch quaffer for summer, especially if your porch comes with oysters. The red is the new name for their old Foothills Reserve blend, bursting with fruit but short of a bomb, so perfect for your carnivorous dining pleasure. Why the sale? Foxen’s building a new tasting room, but don’t worry, the old barn-like spot immortalized in Sideways will still be around, too. Now that’s worth a drink.
