Yahoo!THE FRONT ROW: Tom Jacobs will be familiar to anyone who follows the arts in Santa Barbara from his 14 years as the lead staff writer in the arts section of the Santa Barbara News-Press. Having recently left that organization, Jacobs has crossed Anacapa Street to join Miller-McCune, where he writes for a general audience about the best research in contemporary social science. The good news for the arts community is that Jacobs will now be back on his old beat, this time writing for The Independent. In this issue, he covers Santa Barbara Theatre’s Victory (click here) and looks ahead at UCSB’s Plumfield, Iraq (click here). Expect to see his byline accompanying some of the biggest arts stories of the coming season.
