ON THE COVER: In the wake of last Thursday’s historic California Supreme Court ruling allowing same-sex marriage, gay and lesbian couples were scrambling to figure out how to get hitched. Robby Robbins and Bryan O’Quinn had a commitment ceremony in North Carolina in 1999 (as pictured in our cover image by Darren Stanhouse); they then trekked to Vermont in January 2002 to make it more official with a civil union, and now they’re in the early stages of wedding planning since Thursday’s decision.
