Where: 705 Anacapa St., (805) 882-1123; pacificcrepe.com
What: An authentic crperie open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner unrivaled in Santa Barbara for its paper-thin and fresh ingredient-filled wraps.
How much? Les salades $12-$14, specialty savory crpes $12-$15, dessert crpes $4-$8.50
The dish: Owner Yvan Morin left his native France for Santa Barbara, later joined by his parents, and opened Pacific Crpes in 1997 after realizing that there was no place to get a decent crpe in town. The French Provencal decor has a warm feel with its hand-decorated and motif-lined chalkboards. Tiny vases full of fresh flowers are placed on the small tables, which are covered with colorfully patterned tablecloths. Choose from breakfast, savory, or sweet crpes that are all delicately made to order and served immediately. Creative patrons can make their own, choosing from a long list of fresh ingredients that include brie cheese, smoked salmon, prosciutto, Bechamel sauce, and spinach. Dessert crpes are filled with a variety of sweet items and range from simple butter, sugar, and lemon juice to the Suzette, orange sauce flambe with Grand Marnier.

They have great crepes and they are very nice people. This place is underrated in my opinion.

This is the real deal, we are lucky to have such an authentic French restaurant in town. The people who work there are nice and they get excited if you speak French. As soon as I step in there I speak nothing but French and they don't laugh at me. Food sometimes takes a little time, this isn't fast food. I highly recommend the orange sauce flambe with Grand Marnier. Perfect for cold wintery days. They have the real deal Breton black wheat crpes which they use for the non-sugary crpes. And it's pronounced "crehps", not "crapes", they'll appreciate it if you pronounce it correctly, they take these things seriously.

I only speak a few words of French and the owners parents only speak a little English. I actually found myself speaking more Spanish with the father (I think his name is Andres) than English or French. I used to go in there quite a bit when I worked at the News-Press. Anyway, the ambience in that place is as good as the food, and this is the only place that I will voluntarily visit in downtown S.B. I hope these people get a lot of business from this article and make a lot more money--they deserve it.

Love the photo. The girl in the green has my vote. I would love to wrap her up in a giant Crepe!
