Margaret Connell was not only a founding member of the Goleta City Council, she was the city's first mayor. She failed to win re-election in 2006 because of a well-funded campaign against her waged by development interests. Another factor, as Connell describes in this video, is that the city may have been too rigid when residents wanted to build additions to their homes. With developer money still nipping at her heels in this election, Connell was the top vote-getter on Tuesday.

Wow! Great inteview Cathy and congratulations to Margaret Connell. There is now hope that Goleta and Noleta will be preserved as the paradise it is for future generations. Take that Bacara!
Also great move on the part of the Indie to have video clips inserted. Now that I've cancelled my subscription to the News-Suppress I am looking forward to more and better reporting from the Independent.

I like the video camera work in this story!!
I look forward to the results of the FPPC (California Fair Political Practices Commission) investigation of the anonymous PAC that failed to file mandatory reports but still advertised and spun in the hit pieces against the winners, Connell and Easton.
Karma will be a BITCH, Roy.
