This note is simply a thank you for your coverage of the Tea Fire. While our home was spared, there were moments when it looked like we would lose it. We live just south of Westmont College so I don't really need to say much more.
Last Thursday night, my wife and I caught a 5 p.m. flight to Portland, Oregon, to attend the funeral of a close friend. When we landed I had lots of text messages and voice mails alerting me to the fire. Our neighbors had rescued our dog and things were looking bleak. I got online and checked all the major online services—you, governmental agencies, the Brand X local newspaper, local TV stations, etc. Eventually I stopped going to all the other Web pages because you were the only one providing any new and reasonably real-time information.
When I finally went to bed at 1a.m., I did not know whether my house would survive, but regardless, I vowed to write this note. I am forever grateful for your coverage.
The tributes at my friend's funeral the next day made me realize that as emotionally attached as we get to our homes, they are no substitute for the friendships we share. — Mike Pittman

I am so sorry about your friend that passed away..My family and friends lost their homes in the Tea Fire and all their possesions however it has made them realize that they have each other and they will get through this difficult period of their lives. It could have been so much worse, we could have lost anyone of them with how fast it burned. We are grateful that everyone made it out.
I hope your home was saved. Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy your family and friends because in the end that is what matters....
