Marine Corporal Aaron Allen, a 24-year-old Buellton resident, died while serving in Iraq on 11/14. He was assigned to the Anbar region and was struck down by an improvised explosive device just south of Falluja, according to a government release. His body was returned to Santa Barbara County on 11/21.

My condolences to the family and friends. If I were king, Aaron would have never been in Iraq under those circumstances. I was given to believe that Anbar was in the midst of a "miraculous" reduction in violence. I suppose reduction does not mean zero.

Tegrat, it is still an unstable region capable of flashing up @ any time.
I got cousins proudly serving over there, some Army, some Marines, some Special Forces & the 1st thing they say is that while there's an instability factor, improvements have been made, but the thing is human nature always remains w/ much to be improved.
Looks like they approved the security pact today & troops will begin pulling back in 2012. That is a long time away, but @ least someting has been decided.
My deepest condolences to the family & friends of Aaron Allen. He served proudly. He is with good angels now :) henry

Another complete waste of a young life. One aspect of human nature that will never change is the self-preservation instinct that causes a nation to repell invaders and occupiers.
Bring the troops home now.
Its long past time that Congress indict and convict Bush and Cheney for high crimes and treason, starting with lying to the public about the need for this war.

Bro, if that were the case then Bill Clinton would also have to be tried as well for his military action on Serbia during his presidency.
By the way, it was the Serbians who in WWII rescued, hid & protected our downed pilots from the nazis.
What a great way to repay them, bombing the crap out of their cities.
As for treason, it's the bankers & brokers who put this country in the economic mess it is currently in that should be rounded up & tried for that.
If you compromise the economic stability of a nation you thereby compromise it's national security, thus making 1 a traitor.
Round them up, put liens on their estates, freeze their assets & let the trials begin.
I hear treason is punishable by death by hanging. Make it a public event :) henry

Nothing President Clinton did wrong comes even close to the thievery and endless lying of Bush-Cheney, our two-headed unelected "president". But I agree with you: people like the Bushes, Cheney, Karl Rove, James Baker, Ken Mehlman, the Kristols and the various other nutjubs behind the modern-day GOP and idiot fringe groups like the Project for a New American Century should be publicly hanged. Pass the rope, Hank.
