Give A Little

• Jeepers creepers, they’re collecting old peepers! The Lions Sight and Hearing Center of S.B., in conjunction with local area Lions Clubs, will collect used eyeglasses instead of candy this Halloween while they trick-or-treat. Sight Night, Friday, October 31, is part of a national collection drive conducted annually. The used eyeglasses are recycled and sent to developing countries. If a volunteer doesn’t make it to your home on Halloween, eyeglasses can be dropped off year-round at the downtown and Goleta libraries. Call 569-8264 for specific locations.

• Sunday, November 2, is the S.B. Jewish Community’s Super Sunday Phonathon! Dozens of volunteers will staff phones at the Bronfman Family Jewish Community Center (524 Chapala St.), from 10 a.m-1 p.m., and 5 p.m.-8 p.m., calling people in hopes of raising more than $100,000 for essential social programs serving the local community. Call 957-1115 x106 for more volunteer info.

• Take part in the 11th Annual S.B. Empty Bowls Fundraiser on Sunday, November 2, at Rockwood Woman’s Club (670 Mission Canyon Rd.) and help the Foodbank to feed 100,000-plus hungry people in S.B. County. This event is suitable for the whole family! Seating times are 11 a.m., noon, and 1 p.m. Tickets are $25 general, $100 VIP. Raffle tickets are also available. Call 967-5741 x104 for ticket purchase and more info.
