Directed by Westmont Theater graduate Casey Caldwell, Cuts focuses on the poignant and silly stories people share about their hair. The play is based on real-life interviews conducted by Caldwell and his cast (Sarah Halford, Marie Ponce, and Nolan Hamlin), combined with original choreography and songs by Greg Wadsworth. “Because hair is something everyone has, it serves as a common ground. Though these stories are mostly ridiculous, they also reflect where we stand socially, economically, and culturally. … The piece straddles the gap between the silly and the serious,” says Caldwell. The project was originally shown at Westmont's Porter Theatre last March to full houses and is making its anticipated second run at Center Stage Theater (751 Paseo Nuevo) on Friday, September 5, and Saturday, September 6, at 8p.m. Tickets are $10.
