BREAKING BANDS: Lisa Engelbrektson has been writing about musicians, bands, shows, and albums for The Independent for almost a year. You’ve probably seen her sig by Pop, Rock & Jazz previews and reviews aplenty. She’s so pumped on what she does that in her free time, she says she’s usually looking for more work, seeking out artists and trying to have a word with them. Of course the UCSB grad also goes to lots of shows for fun, and she enjoys collecting vinyl, as well as baking. Fall arts events that are of particular interest to Engelbrektson are Gladys Knight at the Granada, The Dandy Warhols in L.A., and RRIICCEE at SOhO. Now, she travels up and down the state to see concerts, and when we asked her about her hopes and dreams for the future, she described traveling the world, working for all the biggest names in the rock journalism biz. Indy readers, “If you hear of any good music,” Engelbrektson says, “you should let me know.”
