Yahoo!The Brighton Port Authority, the latest incarnation of Norman Cook (aka Fatboy Slim), is a puzzling but ultimately rewarding collection of songs featuring a relative who’s who list of guest vocalists. The album’s also being released under the guise of a collection of lost nuggets from the ’70s recently unearthed from a dusty warehouse, or something. Just go with it. If you buy in, you’ll be rewarded by tracks like the manic Carribean-infused “Should I Stay or Should I Blow,” featuring Ashley Beedle (“Every day it’s yeah yeah yeah, and every night it’s no no no”). Other gems include contributions from Martha Wainwright, Iggy Pop, David Byrne, and Dizzee Rascal. Despite the Jaws reference in the album’s title, Cook proves his career hasn’t jumped the shark just yet. Lucky us.
