While Ojai Day 2009 isn’t until October, the event’s committee is already accepting submissions for this year’s poster contest. Artists are encouraged to email their camera-ready, Ojai-themed work to Linda Harmon at lhart412@roadrunner.com, or via mail to 412 North Fulton Street, Ojai, CA 93023. Art can also be dropped off at the City of Ojai’s Boyd Recreation Center at 510 Park Road.
Get in the Spirit
The 2009 Spirit of Fiesta dance auditions will be held at the Marjorie Luke Theatre (721 E. Cota St.) on Saturday, April 4, at 1 p.m. Both Spirit and Junior Spirit of Fiesta will be selected at this popular yearly event. Tickets can be purchased at the Old Spanish Days office (129 Castillo St.) or by calling 962-8101.
Spencer The Poet
Laguna Blanca senior Spencer Klavan recently took home top honors in California’s fifth annual Poetry Out Loud contest, beating out 24 other students. Klavan will travel to Washington, D.C., in May to compete for the national title.
