Saturday Fireworks Set Off for Film

Untitled Nancy Meyers Project to Continue Shooting This Week

Fireworks set off Saturday evening that appeared to be over Butterfly Beach were for a feature film being shot in the City of Santa Barbara. The fireworks were for a yet-to-be-named film directed by Nancy Meyers that will be shooting here this week.

While not in Montecito Fire District’s jurisdiction, spokesperson Geri Ventura confirmed there was a permit to host the fireworks. A phone call to the Santa Barbara City Fire Department was not immediately returned.

The film, which stars Alec Baldwin, Meryl Streep, and Steve Martin, will be shooting this Wednesday and Thursday in various locations around Santa Barbara, including the County Courthouse, De la Guerra Plaza, and El Paseo.

CORRECTION: Information about the source of the fireworks appearing in this story later turned out to be wrong. See an more recent article on the fireworks here.
