The Dish: Conveniently serving residents of the Isla Vista community adjacent to the UCSB campus, the I.V. Food Co-Op is a member-owned natural foods shop. Accommodating to consumers’ dietary needs, shelves are stocked with the latest organic, raw, vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free products. High quality is derived from freshness with an emphasis on supporting area farmers, sustainability, and community businesses. I.V.’s co-op has a full assortment of delicious bulk foods (try the addicting yogurt-covered almonds); grab-and-go items, from sandwiches to freshly ground hummus; vitamins, supplements, herbs, environmentally friendly cleaning products, beer, and wine. Customers can gain access to products that are produced on a small scale with an emphasis on the environment, nutrition, and cutting out the middleman between production and grocery store purchase. Member benefits include purchase discounts and partial ownership of the self-sustaining business.
