When Henrietta Forystek, a co-owner of Max’s Restaurant (3514 State St., 898-9121, maxsrestaurantsb.com), was asked how the spot has changed in its 25 years, she said, “It’s still the same. It’s always been a place where you find fresh items, and everything is prepared from scratch.” Forystek should know; while she’s been co-owner since 2002, she was one of the original employees when the business opened in 1985. As one part of its anniversary celebration, Max’s, famed for its breakfasts, is once again open for dinner. “There were lots of requests from our customers,” Forystek explained. “We’re offering some signature salads, a rib eye steak, chicken piccata, scallops, a burger—a variety so people can have a nice meal or something light. We’re a neighborhood restaurant trying to appeal to a variety of clientele.” That means beyond that soufflé-style omelet Max’s is known for, one can now check out a laidback San Roque establishment Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 5-9 p.m.
