Art From Scrap and United Way Seeking Volunteers

• Searching for a way to help out the community, all while being artistically and environmentally aware? Then look no further than Art From Scrap (302 E. Cota St.), where a wide variety of volunteer opportunities await the giving individual. Volunteers will have the chance to work at the Art From Scrap Reuse Store, workshops, or even gallery art receptions and openings, where jobs vary from stocking to serving refreshments. Call 884-0459 x13.

• This year’s United Way Day of Caring will benefit a wide array of community nonprofits, all of which are in need of volunteers. Volunteers will assist planting a sidewalk garden at Casa Serena, a women’s recovery home; constructing care packages at the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation; and helping with habitat restoration at Santa Ynez Valley People Helping People, among other projects. The Day of Caring has a significant impact on S.B., and takes place Saturday, September 19, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m., at various locations. Call 965-8594.
