The Dish: One of State Street’s newest spots for on-the-go lunch and dinner is part of a chain of fast-serve format salad-and-sandwich shops called California Crisp Cafe. Established in 1979, the franchise has grown to 14 stores spanning from Southern California to Portland. The mission is freshness, and each specialty salad is assembled and tossed to order with house-made dressing. Jumbo potato chips made on premise accompany sandwiches, lavish wraps, and baked ciabatta paninis, and are one of a variety of potato sides the restaurant has available. Choose from 16 crisp salads, try the soup of the day, or indulge in one of eight masterfully constructed sandwiches. Seven wraps and four paninis range from chicken Caesar to Philly steak to the Central Coast’s own Santa Maria-style Tri-Tip. Potato sides come in the form of baked with melted cheddar or sour cream-doused bacon, in endless combinations of toppings. Portable and fresh menu items are the perfect choice for a quick bite and casual lunch.
