American Riviera Award to Mickey Rourke
The 24th Santa Barbara Film Festival honors Mickey Rourke with the American Riviera Award. Rourke’s breakout performance in The Wrestler has garnered him a Golden Globe Award as well as an Oscar nomination. World-renowned writer, director and producer, Francis Ford Coppola, will be giving the award to Rourke. The American Riviera Award is presented to a performer with an outstanding achievement in American film. Established in 1995, it was created to honor an individual who has enriched our culture through his/her accomplishments in the motion picture industry. Past recipients include Tommy Lee Jones, Forrest Whitaker, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Kevin Bacon, and Diane Lane.

A Celebration of David Fincher
On Friday, January 30, SBIFF will present “A Celebration of David Fincher,” where he will be joined by Jake Gyllenhaal, Academy Award-nominated actress Taraji P. Henson and a few special friends.The evening, sponsored by Macys and moderated by film historian and critic Pete Hammond, will highlight one of cinema’s most dazzling visual stylists. Fincher established himself in the world of commercials and music videos before becoming one of Hollywood’s most respected talents. He made his mark with the unforgettable thriller Se7en and has since gone on to create such critically-acclaimed films as Fight Club, The Game, Panic Room, and Zodiac before venturing on to the challenge of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which has garnered 13 Oscar nominations! Montecito Award - Kate Winslet
WHO: Best Actress nominee for her work in The Reader, Kate Winslet returns to the Santa Barbara Film Festival to receive The Montecito Award. Presenting the award to her is her good friend Bill Nighy (Pirates of the Carribbean, Love Actually). WHAT: The Montecito Award is bestowed upon an actor/actress who has given a series of classic and standout performances in his/her career. From her first Oscar-nominated performance in Sense and Sensibility to her most recognized role in Titanic, Winslet has continuously played roles that audiences love like the unforgettable girlfriend Clementine from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind or Sylvia, the widowed mother of four, from Finding Neverland to the enterprising scavenger Rita in the animated feature Flushed Away.

Saturday, January 31, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lobero Theatre, is the “Movers & Shakers” panel, bringing together top producers to discuss their craft. Moderated by Los Angeles Times columnist Patrick Goldstein, the panel will include Jim Morris (Wall-E), Neda Armian (Rachel Getting Married), Dan Jinks (Milk), Christian Colson (Slumdog Millionaire) and Charles Roven (The Dark Knight/Get Smart).
