Starving Student Specials


This week is the perfect time for Santa Barbarans to support the wide variety of talented student music groups that our city’s colleges and universities are cultivating into future stars. Some of the student music performances in the area this week include:

• Members of the Westmont College Choir and Westmont Orchestra will perform the musical The Secret Garden at First United Methodist Church (305 E. Anapamu St.) on Friday, January 30, at 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday, January 31, at 6 p.m. $10. Call 565-6000.

• The UCSB Jazz Combo, directed by Jon Nathan, will perform at UCSB’s Music Bowl on Wednesday, February 4, at noon. Free. Call 893-7001.

• The UCSB Percussion Ensemble, also directed by Jon Nathan, will perform at UCSB’s Karl Geiringer Hall on Wednesday, February 4, at 7:30 p.m. $7-$15. Call 893-7001.
