The Santa Barbara Police Department will conduct a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) checkpoint at an unannounced location the city on Friday July 3, 2009 from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. Drivers’ licenses will be checked. DUI enforcement officers will also be on patrol throughout the weekend.
An announcement from the SBPD’s Officer Noel Rivas said officers are committed to arresting DUI drivers before a collision occurs and urged everyone to report any suspected impaired driver by calling 911. The department encouraged those who plan on consuming alcohol to drink responsibly, pre-arrange for a ride home, designate a driver, “and understand that officers will be diligently looking for the impaired driver.”
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety and through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

I hope they have some checkpoints in Goleta instead of just the usual ones in downtown SB. There's a lot of speeders and crazy drivers in Goleta because all the cops are usually downtown.
