The Santa Barbara Foresters enter the last week of their regular season on the verge of wrapping up their seventh consecutive California Collegiate League championship. They host the Santa Maria Packers this weekend (5 p.m., Saturday, July 25, and 1 p.m., Sunday) at UCSB. Both teams are bound for the National Baseball Congress World Series at Wichita in August — the Foresters by virtue of being the defending champions, the Packers as a reward for winning the Rawlings California Cup. Since they lost in the semifinals of that tournament, the Foresters have gone 9-1. Included in that stretch was a no-hitter by left-hander Matt Leonard against the San Luis Obispo Rattlers.

The high-goal polo season at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club is kicking into high gear this weekend with the start of the Robert Skene Trophy. Six teams will challenge Audi Polo, a foursome that went undefeated last summer and won its first two matches in preliminary events this year.

Weekday construction activities at the Santa Barbara Golf Club has moved the annual Santa Barbara Women’s Open to other courses next week. The first round Wednesday will take place at Glen Annie, and the final round Thursday at Sandpiper. The entry list includes defending champion Shannon Yocum, a 22-year-old from Palos Verdes who competed for Cal in the Pac-10 Conference.
