Ah, summer. A time to take a break and partake in the little pleasures in life, like a wardrobe revamp. Here are some of the latest trends and stylish suggestions to get you off to a smart start.

    Dresses

Casual, yet elegant long strapless dresses are perfect for any body type. This Hollywood chic apparel gives the body a sleek appearance for the tall and skinny types, and gives the sense of height for shorter types because of its long length. (Forever 21, $19.84)

    Purses

Canvas totes are sure to bring out that beachy feeling wherever you are. Juicy Couture offers the Generation Y tote in teal sporting a peace sign ($78) or its “From Juicy. With Love” tote in Barbie doll pink ($78). For a more bohemian feel, a canvas tote from the Isla Vista Co-Op will do the trick as well.

    Sandals

There is nothing hotter than showing off your newly bronzed stems in a pair of strappy sandals. This spring and summer, it is all about the “amplified” gladiator. Try “Pristine” Sandals from Aldo in taupe, copper, or suede ($99). Or keep it casual with a pair of Havaianas Slim sandals at Nordstrom ($24).

    Sunglasses

Battle those harmful rays in a pair of this season’s boldest shades in an eye-popping variety of styles. From designer to budget brand, neutral to fluorescent shades, chunky to rimless, sunglasses are this season’s must. Check out Ray-Ban Outdoorsman II aviators, available in a variety of different shades of color at Sunglasses Hut.

    Make-Up

Lips. This summer packs some punch in bright lipsticks and bronze hues. Brighten up your smile with red and pink lips. Keep eye makeup minimal with these bold hues. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Cha Cha Cherry should do the trick. (Rite Aid, $7.99)

Eyes. Smokey eyes for a sinister evening look take charge on this summer’s runways. Give your peepers a generous helping of black or brown eyeliner, a perfect compliment to this season’s vibrant floral dresses. Try MAC power point eye pencil in Stubborn Brown or Engraved. (MAC makeup $14.50)
