S.B. Polo & Racquet Club Open to the Public on Sundays

By Indy Staff

Thursday, June 11, 2009

Several sports require players to move a ball up and down a field, but none is as wild as polo. Horses galloping, turf flying, mallets clanking up and down the 300-yard field—it’s a sight to witness. And witness it you can, because each Sunday, the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club (3375 Foothill Rd., #1200, Carpinteria)—the third-oldest, continually operating polo club in the U.S.—is open to the public. In addition to watching the pros—both horses and riders—do their thing, attendees can sample vino as part of the club’s Sunday wine tastings. Games are at 1 and 3 p.m., and admission is $10 per person. For more information, call 684-6683 or visit sbpolo.com.
