WORLDHEALER, Inc., a new Santa Barbara-based humanitarian organization, is holding a fundraiser and debut party this Sunday, March 29. The event will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at Events Unlimited on 205 Santa Barbara St.
There are big plans for WORLDHEALER, Inc. By promoting education, employment, health, homes, and community programs, founder Roxana Bonderson hopes to give to the poor and support their financial and individual wellbeing in countries across the planet.
The emerging nonprofit builds what it calls "Studio Projects" and has already begun designing studios in Italy, Cuba, and Brazil. The organization sees these outlets not only as studios as places to go, work, be creative, and apply oneself. "Est°dio - The Brazil Project" is currently the most active of the three ventures, and is a place for children and adults to go to learn and play. The activities offered at Est*dio are widely varied: adults may go to learn a vocation, or children can have a safe and positive environment where they can receive assistance in school while having fun and filling their time with nutrition, educational, and healthy activities. Anyone can receive assistance in school subjects, counseling, sports, dance classes, computer courses, and much more. "The goal of this environment is to motivate young people," the group's Web site states, "and to offer adults a second chance at a functional, vocational and independent lifestyle."

Bonderson is no stranger to the development charity fields. After receiving her bachelor of architecture degree from Cal Poly in 1999, Bonderson traveled around the world to help and research impoverished peoples, towns, and countries. She has been to Europe, South and North America, Africa, Asia, and Australia, and has participated in projects with Habitat for Humanity and UNESCO.
It is not spread across the globe yet, but WORLDHEALER, Inc. plans to be. And, like most charitable works, it depends to a certain extent upon donations. Should you like to contribute, call the organization at 284-9336 or email Bonderson at rbonderson@worldhealer.org.

Sending the memory.
That candle,
when the greatest
level tries to
forget a loving
intention, appears
in my mind
like a distant
idea, and also
this care invents
an emotion.
