Lawn Bowling Day

Free Instruction on May 9

Move over baseball, we just may have a new contender for our national pastime-lawn bowling. That might be a bit of a leap, but clearly Governor Schwarzenegger thinks the ancient game should get its turn as demonstrated by his recent support for a statewide Lawn Bowls Day celebration to be observed on Saturday, May 9. On that day, S.B.’s MacKenzie Lawn Bowls Club will offer free instruction on how one becomes a skilled lawn bowler. Not only do you get to spend the day outside, but the club is providing pizza and drinks to all who attend. Last year’s event attracted 300 people. Do I hear 400? It all happens on Saturday, May 9, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. For more info, call 563-5494 or visit mackenzieparklbc.org.
