As of 8:41 Friday morning, May 8, Indy reporter Ethan Stewart said he sees active flames jumping as high as 100 feet just west of Highway 154, about two miles north of San Antonio Creek. "I see flames under the power line," he said. He added that it's clear that the fire jumped Highway 154 in multiple spots, but from what he saw, it didn't appear it got much further west than 150 yards. The flames he saw occurred on steep rugged terrain, and it appeared to Stewart that the firefighters nearby were waiting for them to reach a spot where they could actually fight back. "The further up 154 you go, the more Armageddian it gets," Stewart said. He said he was going to pull off to the side of the road so that he could watch but not interfere with the firefighting efforts.

For those who live in San Roque and are concerend, i was just in those neighborhoods and there is nothing burned south of Foothill. Above foothill is another story, but the closer you get to the road, the less damage there is. The houses that are closer to the road are all fine.

they are working hard to hold the fire at Foothill and 154. More assets are on the way.

One Wildlandfirefighter wrote: "Also according to the morning news briefing they're bringing in the DC-10 later today."
Do we know what areas the DC-10 will cover?

At 9 am friday the active flame front on 154 was approaching the Arnoldi residence, between windy gap and maria ygnacia creek.
At that point, at least, the flames were only on the uphill side of the road.
(for those more familiar with the road than what its going through, that's about a quarter mile towards sb from the big long passing lane, or perhaps 3/4 mile towards sb from the intersection of painted cave, san marcos road, and 154.)
