UCSB will host the Wofford College Terriers in the first round of the NCAA Division I men’s soccer tournament Thursday (Nov. 19) at Harder Stadium. Game time is 7 p.m.

Wofford, located in Spartanburg, South Carolina, swept the Southern Conference regular season and tournament championships. The Terriers (12-2-3) bring a four-game winning streak into Thursday’s match.

UCSB (15-4-2) dominated the Big West during the regular season but was upset by UC Irvine, 4-1, in the conference tournament final last Saturday night. The defeat cost the Gauchos one of the top 16 seeds and a first-round bye in the NCAA tournament.

The winner of the UCSB-Wofford game will travel to play 11th-seeded University of San Diego in the second round at 5 p.m. Sunday.

In the CIF volleyball playoffs, both Dos Pueblos and Santa Barbara High travel to Orange County for their 1A Division semifinal matches Tuesday. Laguna Blanca will host St. Margaret’s in a 4AA semifinal.

If there is a Dos Pueblos-Santa Barbara final for the second consecutive year, local fans should expect to travel. The CIF has scheduled the finals in all divisions at Cypress College, and DP athletic director Dan Feldhaus said the Chargers would rather play there than move the match to the local area. Last year, they played at UCSB’s Robertson Gym, where the Dons upset the Chargers.

SBCC’s volleyball team is on a roll. The Vaqueros (19-2) have won seven straight matches and conclude the regular season at home Tuesday night against Ventura.
