Qui Si Bella Goes Raw

Spa Offers Classes in Raw Food Prep at Loreto Plaza

Purifying, cleansing, detoxing: words usually ascribed to relaxing benefits of spas, but now often used to describe the haute food trend of raw food. This hot trend, ironically, does not use heat-based cooking techniques. Raw foods embrace the natural life-balancing nutrients found in plant-based, unprocessed food. Qui Si Bella (3311 State St., 682-0003, thought it was a perfect fit for its eco-wellness spa and is offering “cooking” classes at its Loreto Plaza location every third Thursday of the month. Angela Gorman, who leads these classes, is a certified nutritionist and raw/live foods chef. She previously worked at the Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach and owned her own catering company in Florida. Gorman deftly shows class attendees just how easy it is to incorporate more life-giving foods into busy lives. Think raw eating is dry and cardboardy? Think again when you sample Gorman’s waffles, pancakes, or spaghetti. For the next lesson on October 22, pizza is back by popular demand. Yeah, pizza without flour or cheese, and still packed with flavor. For only $20 per class, it is a deliciously inexpensive way to eat r-au natural.
