In a huge boost to struggling Detroit, Santa Barbara-based Clairvoyant Energy along with Austin-based Xtreme Power will be investing $725 million to redevelop a 4.7-million-square-foot plant that was formerly a Ford automobile assembly facility. The 320-acre site will be turned into a renewable energy manufacturing park and is expected to create 4,000 jobs on site and in the area, as well as support thousands of other jobs. Clairvoyant, which has developed solar power park operations in California, expects to be able to produce more than 2.5 million solar panels a year at the Detroit site.
