Santa Barbara Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call yesterday, August 26, of a man shot near Refugio Beach.
The victim called dispatchers himself at 12:40 p.m. and said he was shot when he stopped to help another motorist. Deputies found the man sitting in his car — which was parked on the Refugio Road offramp on the northbound side of Highway 101 — with a bullet wound in his leg.
The man reportedly gave authorities a description of the shooter and the involved vehicle, but an immediate search of the area failed to turn up a suspect. Detectives are withholding any details until they receive solid information, Sheriff’s spokesperson Drew Sugars said.
The victim was transported to Cottage Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

So much for those who insist that everyone should have the right to bear arms anywhere and anytime — what about: no guns, no shooting victims, how simple is this?

I think maybe a drug deal gone bad? I'm sure they will figure out his story soon.

Gang members stabbing and beating each other, women needing protection against psychotic men stalking them who don't care if they go to jail for doing so, store owners tired of being robbed, and people living in high-crime areas are some things to think about before wanting to take away the right to own a gun.
Also, if you ban guns, they will end take the same road to the Black Market that drugs are taking and that booze took during prohibition.

Switzerland has a very high percentage of gun owners and they seem to do well.

Gun laws don't make any sense mainly because CRIMINALS DON'T OBEY THE LAWS. It is the law-abiding citizens that always get screwed by gun laws, they never work.
Besides, gun laws don't prevent guns from existing. Hell, prisoners have better access to hard drugs than most people outside of prison and they are sitting in a cage!! If law enforcement can't keep massive amounts of drugs out of prisons, how do you expect them to keep guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens without becoming tyrannical?

" . . . Detectives are withholding any details until they receive solid information . . ."
Like a description of suspect and the car he was seen in?
Don't you think maybe releasing THAT info MIGHT help GENERATE LEADS???
Like, DUH?
