The Santa Barbara County Fire Department reminds motorists the law requires you to pull to the right side of the road and allow emergency vehicles to pass.

Pull To the Right, Sit Tight

When you hear sirens or see red lights, pull to the right side of the road and stop. Failure to do so can cause serious accidents or delays for emergency vehicles arriving at the scene of an emergency. Every seconds counts!

If you find yourself behind an emergency vehicle, stay at least 300 feet behind them in case of a sudden stop. If you are pedestrian, stay out of the street and keep children close by.
